I Cry, Suddenly...

Video games were meant to be fun, cheering you up and make you go "Yahoo!" whenever you complete a mission, right? Well, I found a totally completely different game which exclusive only for the PS3 console, called "Heavy Rain".

How did i know about this game since it only released for the PS3? Well, this game was born from my most favourite game company, Quantic Dream, so i would know that by automatically, lol. Their previous project, "Fahrenheit", was a great game too, which we play in "drama" style. Too bad, the plot was a joke to me. The starting of the game was very realistic, then i dont know why it suddenly shifted to some kind of matrix game =.=

As for "Heavy Rain", i read the plot before i watch the WHOLE walktrough on Youtube. I thought it's just another action game which you armed with a weapon and kick some asses, but i was wrong. This game is more than just a game, i actually did cry at the game for more than 3 times... Especially at Ethan Mars, one of the 4 playable lead characters.

Ethan Mars was a very successful architect and a married man with two sons. At the very beginning of the game, it was more like a "Happy Family" which kinda reminds me of "The Sim". But after what happened in the second chapter, i quickly felt down for him; Jason, his elder son, was hit by a car and died. Worst thing is, the day he passes away was his birthday! Birthday turns to Funeral day...

Two years later, we learn that he gets divorced and live separately from his wife, Grace, and quit his job as an architect. His other son, Shaun, currently lives with him in a new but old house. Shaun used to be very close with Ethan, now he turns to more melancholy and is like "I hate you daddy!". There was a scene that took place inside a study room, Ethan plays a video that he filmed with his family before the incident happened. This reminds him back to when he used to be very happy with his kids. Eventually, he cries, and so am i.

The plot shifted to more dramatic and emotional when Shaun gets kidnapped by a serial killer called "Origami Killer". Ethan has to go through a total of 5 trials in order to save his son (the trials remind me of "Saw" , though), which forced him to against the traffic law, kill a man, cut his finger, drink a bottle of poison and crawl through a small tunnel which lies with full of sharp glasses. By the end of the day, player could choose to do it or not to it.

Ethan is the ideal dad that every son wants. I never thought a game could make me cry multiple times, not even a movie able to do that. So, this game is definitely going to hit #1, very powerful and emotional. Surprisingly, there are 17 endings available for this game. Same as Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, the game will change and affect your ending judging by the player's performance during the game.

Seriously, Ethan Mars is my first favourite male character for video game ;)
